There I was, in my small kitchen, surrounded by an array of colorful botanicals that whispered promises of healing. As a 5th generation Tejana, I was raised in a migrant family that traveled from field to field and town to town, always seeking the next opportunity. My family's resilience and tireless work ethic shaped my identity in profound ways—qualities I'm forever grateful for. These experiences instilled in me a deep sense of determination and adaptability that continues to guide me.

Growing up, I inherited more than just a work ethic. I was gifted with a rich cultural heritage and the wisdom of generations. This connection to my roots became especially important as I faced personal challenges that naturally arise with adulthood. I fondly remember the beautiful potions my Grandma Jasso crafted for herself and her family, along with the rituals called limpias (cleansings) that she performed on us. Although temporarily lost, this wisdom was never forgotten. My soul searched for something more authentic and meaningful, leading me to the traditional wisdom of Latin American indigenous practices. My kitchen experiments were not just about crafting skincare products; they were a journey to reconnect with my heritage and discover a deeper sense of self and inner connection.

That self-connection I sought through my rituals was the key to listening to my body when something didn't feel right leading me to my breast cancer diagnosis. This moment was a profound challenge that forced me to acknowledge these rituals were not done in vain.

Amidst this upheaval, again, I found clarity in the ancient practices of my ancestors. The traditional knowledge and healing practices passed down through generations in my family became a beacon of hope. I realized that the wisdom of these indigenous botanicals held the key to profound healing, not just for my body but for my spirit as well.

Today, Sanara stands as a tribute to that transformative journey and the positive legacy of my heritage. The brand is more than just luxury skincare; it’s a celebration of the ancient wisdom and traditions that have shaped my life. Through Sanara, I’ve blended traditional knowledge with modern wellness, creating products that foster deep connection and self-care.

This experience has reshaped my understanding of self-worth and purpose. It has empowered me to share the benefits of indigenous practices with others, helping them reconnect with their own heritage and inner strength. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, I hope my story inspires others to embrace their roots, cherish their unique journey, and find healing through their heritage.
